01 The liminal moment

A visual identity for pan-African cultural diplomacy

Maison des Mondes Africains stood at the threshold of convening 40 nations in Lagos. The challenge was not simply hosting an event, but holding a space where international diplomatic protocols and African creative energy could coexist without contradiction.

02 The brief

The surface brief

Develop a comprehensive, bilingual visual identity and spatial design for a flagship pan-African creative forum in Lagos.

The real brief

Design a visual system capable of navigating complex cultural nuance and high-level diplomatic protocol. The work needed to bridge French and English, honouring Nigerian creative expression while maintaining strict alignment with the broader MansA and Création Africa brand architectures.

02 The work

What we listened for

How we shaped it

What it became

We entered the work by immersing the practice in Lagos’s creative landscape and the Franco-African diplomatic context, seeking to understand the cultural nuances before shaping a single design element.

We built a cohesive visual architecture that could travel across borders and mediums. Working alongside a local Nigerian production partner, we translated strategic intent into a physical and digital system, ensuring rigorous international standards met deep local resonance.

A comprehensive, bilingual brand experience that anchored the forum. From ten-second billboard animations to immersive venue wayfinding, the identity held the complexity of the convening without losing its creative vitality.

04 The showcase

Orchestrating a cross-continental visual system

The identity maintained coherence across highly varied applications, balancing diplomatic weight with creative energy.

Digital touchpoints translated the strategic mandate into a format that resonated with Lagos’s broader creative economy.

Detailed collateral navigated bilingual requirements while keeping the human stakes visible.

The physical brand experience extended from arrival to departure, establishing immediate visual credibility for international delegates.
